Environmental Sustainability

APRIL embeds environmental sustainability (ES) based on UoE institutional plans and policies including, but not limited to, physical environment and infrastructure; business travel, and external stakeholder and public engagement. Hence, we will comply with Greening Government commitments (2021- 25) to mitigate climate change in line with national legislative targets.

We strive to minimize our environmental footprint by implementing energy-efficient processes, reducing waste, and using sustainable materials both in the workplace and at our events. Collaborating with government bodies, industry partners, and academics, we seek impactful and innovative solutions that address climate challenges and promote the circular economy. By championing these values, we aim to inspire a new generation of researchers dedicated to creating AI technologies that are both cutting-edge and sustainable, ensuring a positive impact on our environment and future generations.

01. Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

APRIL commits to scope and uphold best practices in EDI, providing flexible work and actively encouraging diversity through use of positive language and transparent decision-making. EDI indicators will be actively monitored and reported (EDI lead: BR) upon at annual reports. A similar commitment applies to RRI (RRI lead: KE), where a relation with ORBIT will be cultivated and training courses will be offered to all HMB members early in Y1 of APRIL.
